Joomla! Extension Recommendations

At the last count, there were over 8000 extensions available in the Joomla! Extensions Directory. Some of these extensions can fulfill specific tasks (such as form creation and shopping carts), whilst others can enhance your entire Joomla! experience.

Sadiq Datoo of LNMO.co.uk has been creating Joomla! web sites for many years. He will share which Joomla! extensions you should be using on your web sites, which ones to steer clear from and how to tell the difference.

In addition, Sadiq will be available to discuss some tried and tested extensions for particular tasks and provide a space for delegates to discuss their 'must have' Joomla! extensions.

The Joomla! Community

Sponsored by JCE - Joomla Content Editor

The Joomla community is HUGE, there are forums, JUGS (Joomla User Groups) blog sites, template clubs, freelance systems, JED (Joomla Extension Directory) and there are hundred of thousands (maybe millions) of people across the globe within this community.

This session will explain how the community works, how to get advice, where to find labour/services and how to find extensions to build up your website.

Templates Club

The Joomla! system is an extremely powerful and impressive backend engine, which controls the website. However, none of this is any use if the website isn't aethetically pleasing and displays the content in a way that the viewer doesn't like or understand.

As you may be aware, Joomla! has a templating facility, which allows you to "skin" the website according to your requirements.

This session will explain the basics of the template function, how it works and how you can use template clubs to give your website a professional look quickly and easily.

Why Joomla!

Sponsored By OpenSourceMatters

Joomla is a content management system (CMS), but there are other systems available which are either open source or commercial. This session will show the advantages of using Joomla, how the community can help and why Joomla is the best option.

This will include a Q&A time, so you can ask personally international professionals any related questions you may have.

Installing Joomla!

Sponsored By JoomlaGoogleBase

This session will explain how to install Joomla!, the server software required to host Joomla, what hosting requirements Joomla has and what basic settings you need to keep the site secure. There are other sessions which will go into depth of the security and hosting, but this session will give you an overall understanding.
