Joomla is great, in fact it's fantastic!. Of course you can make websites using it, but you could also sell extensions, build bespoke extensions, sell your time for support per hour etc.
The main question is usually, if your giving your work away for free, how do you make money?
During this session, we will look at how you can make a living from Joomla, and pay your bills!
The session will have multiple people who earn their income solely from the Joomla system in different ways, so you can see the different methods available and have a good cross section of information to help you in your business or career.
A full Q&A time will be allocated at the end of the session, so you can ask questions to international professionals with years of experience for advice and guidance.
Almost all phones are now able to access and show websites, which means more and more people every day are viewing sites this way. It is very important to make sure these viewers have a great experience and get the right information they are looking for.
Not many designers or developers realise this, but phones/tablets such as the iPhone/iPad have their own built in system, which allows you to specify meta tags which control the max and min zoom, set screen size, font types to name a few. We can also specify an entirely different set of CSS classes forcing the site to look differently than it would on a computer browser, due to the mobile browser adding a sub tag, which allows you to filter it out in the style sheet.
This will all be talked about and shown with advise on where to find resources with detailed information for when your back at work.
A full Q&A time will be allocated at the end of the session, so you can ask questions to international professionals with years of experience for advice and guidance.
There is no getting around the fact that, due to an intriguing history, when it comes to Web standards IE's name is mud with many web developers. The
legacy of IE6, leading edge in its day, still lingers nearly 10 years after its release and the nightmare of browser incompatibilities and CSS hacks still has web developers waking in cold sweats.
The good news is that IE6 usage is down to 3.5% in the UK and the better news is that over the past few years Microsoft has made a concerted effort to
make that challenging history, well, history, and the outcome is IE9. The new browser illustrates Microsoft's focus on standards and speed and has resulted in a browser that has surprised even our fiercest critics. It's been a long journey and in this talk.
Martin Beeby will discuss how the community helped us build our best Internet Explorer yet and the amazing things that it's capable of and what changes you might need to make to your sites to support it. We'll also take a look into the future of IE and Microsoft
plan to maintain the momentum.
